Burning Out my Muse

There are some days when I can write and write and write and write. I can put out massive amounts of word counts all at once. And then the next day....Nothing.

I always know when I've overdone the day before if I cannot write the next day.

Does this happen to anyone else?

  1. I'm the same way. My limit for any one day seems to be about 3000 words. If I write much more than that, I can be assured that the next day will be a goose egg. Maybe two days. I wish that wasn't the case, but there you have it.

  2. Cat,
Why do you think this is? This is absolutely true for me too.

  3. Yes, which is why you need to set a daily word count, meet it then go do something else LOL

  4. I don't know if I'm capable of it. When I'm in the zone, I'm in the zone. LOL

  5. Why? I don't have the first clue. LOL. My problem with setting a daily word count goal is that so often I won't meet it. I tend to average about 2000 words a day when I'm writing, but that is spread out over days of 400 or 500 words, mixed with days of about 1500 to 2000 words, mixed with days of 3000 or 4000 words. I'm not very consistent at all. I've tried to do the consistency thing, and it didn't work for me. My writing didn't come out the way it needed to, and I had to fix a lot more later. So I just try to go with it.
