I Did Something Dumb

Someone had told me that walking/running barefoot was better for your back so I attempted to walk barefoot on the treadmill. It was dumb. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I have given myself huge blisters on both feet and I am in a tremendous amount of pain.

Yeah, I was really, really dumb and I won't be doing that again.

Hope you are all a lot more comfortable than me!

  2. Oh, no! Gives you a good reason to put your feet up, though.
    Hope they feel better soon.

  3. Ooohh no! As the daughter of a podiatrist I tell you that's a horrid idea!
Try some new shoes - the harder and less flexible the soul the better. If your feet are doing less work to stay stable, then your back will reap the rewards :-)

  4. Rebecca, even diehard barefooters shy away from treadmills (or dreadmills, as we tend to call them). If you are interested in learning more about barefoot running, you should visit www.barefootrunners.org. It is an international online community of barefoot and minimal footwear runners. Barefoot/minimal running doesn't solve all problems, but many have found it to work wonders. Good luck on your journey!
